2014 MWM RG Registration Rate Schedule

We've finally crunched the numbers and have figured out... we can REDUCE the registration rate for next year's RG for most people. How much will it cost?

Full-Weekend (Note: New this year - this does NOT include Saturday dinner):

$70 thru September 30, 2013

$75 October 1 - December 31, 2013

$80 January 1 - April 30, 2014

$85 thereafter and walk-in

$55 youth (under 18 years old)

Single-day rates (adult or youth):

$30 Friday only

$40 Saturday only (Note: This does NOT include Saturday dinner)

$30 Sunday only

Saturday night dinner (separate purchase required): $20 (deadline for purchasing dinner: May 9, 2014)

Cancellations accepted through April 30, 2014 (8% fee retained for cancellation, same as this past year)

To be crystal clear, meals included in Hospitality with the full weekend price:

Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and lunch, Sunday breakfast and (new this year) lunch.

2014 RG

Jess Byron and I are reprising our roles as co-chairs of the MWM RG, taking place May 16-18, 2014, once again at the Hyatt Dulles, Herndon, VA. Over the upcoming days and weeks, the initial bare-bones details will be decided: registration rate and schedule (it may get modified compared to what's currently "out there"), theme, additional RG committee members, etc. We will start filling in some of those details at http://www.mwmrg.org.

Once we have enough information determined, and our Publicity Chair Extraordinaire has sufficient time, we will create a new blog where we will provide regular updates, like we did this past year for the Superhero Edition RG.

Just over One Month to MWM's RG

It's been a fast-paced year. Believe it or not, Matrix V: Superhero Edition is almost upon us. Come join us at the Hyatt Dulles in Herndon, VA from May 17-19. MWM's 2013 RG

As some of you may know by now, Jess Byron and I have been named co-chairs of MWM's next Regional Gathering. Once again, it will be held at the Hyatt Dulles in Herndon, VA (we're there through 2014). When? May 17-19, 2013.

Registration rate is currently $79, good only through the end of May 2012. We are in the process of putting together a budget and will have the full schedule of registration rates in the near future. Also soon you will be able to register for the RG via http://mwmrg.org and pay via PayPal. (We just need to change up a couple of things to enable that properly.)

Once we have the lion's share of the committee filled up, I'll post the names of the committee members. So far, the committee is shaping up rather well and quickly.

We're looking forward to having a great time and giving everyone in attendance a great time.

Enjoying RGs

I just got home a little while ago from Central NJ Mensa's Snowball RG. I had a really good time. The one speaker I went to see (since programs aren't usually what I go to at RGs) was very good, and attracted about 1/2 of the 250+ attendees to watch her talk on "Bad Science." The games room had a decent variety of games to enjoy (I brought some of mine, Gamesmeister Ryan Martin brought a bunch, and a few other attendees also brought some). But, surprisingly enough for me, I spent a LARGE amount of time in Hospitality talking with people on all sorts of topics.

MWM's RG is coming up soon enough - May 18-20 - in Herndon, VA, at our now-familiar Hyatt Dulles hotel. Looking forward to seeing the full list of programs we have on tap (I'll be putting on "Are You Smarter Than a Young Mensan?" again, and proctoring at least one test session), playing lots of games (possibly some of the ones I (and others) bring, or many of the ones that the chapter owns inclusive of all of the games the chapter receives from the upcoming Mind Games (r)), and sitting and talking with friends (long-time and newly met).

MWM's 2012 RG is On!

Hear ye, hear ye! Matrix 4: A Renaissance Affair is going to be taking place at the now-familiar Hyatt Dulles hotel, site of the recent 2011 RG (A Capital Time) and the upcoming 2012 Mind Games (r) taking place April 20-22, 2012. (http://mindgames.us.mensa.org) The 2012 RG will be taking place May 18-20, 2012.

Registration rates start at $79, reduced rates for minors. Room rates (double or king) are $99/night (single/double/triple/quad). See the January issue of CapM for the initial article by co-chairs Herb Guggenheim and Leslie Carroll, and the registration form. We've got PLENTY of space for lots of programs, Hospitality, and the games room. And, remember, along with plenty of games from members' personal collections, we will have a copy of all of the games that were played at 2012 Mind Games, many of which may be hard to find.

...a Young Mensan? Well, we'll have to put that to the test, won't we? One of the programs we are in the process of putting together for the upcoming RG is our peculiar take on the "...5th Grader" game show.

If you are a Young Mensan registered for the RG who would like to be involved, please contact our Gifted Children Coordinator, Donna Campbell.

If you are an adult Mensan and have registered for the RG, you will have your opportunity to take a preliminary test during the RG - highest score(s) moves on to the final. (We're still working out the precise logistics we want to implement. We may have more than one full game to play.)
