Talk Mensa With Me

Dizzy trying to find out which way Mensa is going? Make this one of your stops to find out about the ins and outs of American Mensa, Ltd. (AML).

Interested in the happenings of Metropolitan Washington Mensa? I'll be able to either directly answer your questions regarding the running of the chapter (certainly through Oct. 31, 2011, my last day as LocSec) or forward you to the appropriate person who can do so.

If you want to get in touch with me, contact me at boxmaster@alumni.williams.edu or just click on any of the "comments" links throughout this blog.

More entries soon

Sorry for the lack of entries on my blog for the last couple of weeks. The past 9 days I was on vacation (yay - Disney World with my friends and my three young godchildren). But, during that time, we were running ourselves so ragged that by the time that everything was finished for the day and set up for the next day, there was no energy for checking e-mail. I knew I'd be inundated when I got back home, but was somewhat surprised at just how big the avalanche was.

More entries to come soon, once I dig out. (I know, the world's smallest orchestra is playing a tune just for me, right? :-) )

Odyssey of the Mind - Volunteers Needed

As you know by reading my column in the January CapM (and will see soon in the February issue, too), I'm putting together volunteers for Odyssey of the Mind. Not only would it be great to have a couple of additional people manning a Mensa table during the day of the competition, but it would be wonderful if we got even more people than last year signing up to be one of the judges for the competition.

If you want to be a judge, you'll need to attend the training session first. For those judging Region 15 (Sterling, VA vicinity), the training will be Sat., Feb. 26 and the day of competition is Sat., March 12.

Take a gander at www.odysseyofthemind.com for full details about the contest and the requirements for judging. (And for other locations where training and competitions are happening, too.)

Let me know if you're interested in participating, and if you've already volunteered to the organizers or you still need that info.

Short agenda

Always glad for the apparent respite, this month's agenda looks to be rather brief. The substantive issues (other than anything which might arise from reports) are related to the webmaster (guidelines, both formal and informal) and additional planning for the Leadership Development Event which we expect to hold in May.

MWM members who would like a copy of the agenda, please contact me directly.
